Erano francescani del convento di Ghassanieh, in Siria, i tre uomini decapitati dal Fronte al Nusra, dopo un processo sommario nel quale sono stati accusati di “essere al soldo del regime”.
Lo rivela Radio France International, che diffonde anche il video del gruppo di jihadisti che mostra l’esecuzione.
La vicenda però era iniziata qualche giorno fa quando padre Pierbattista Pizzaballa, custode di Terra Santa, riportando le parole del suo ministro regionale della Siria, padre Halim Noujaim, aveva affermato la presenza di un gruppo di ribelli che, con la forza, era entrato nel convento di Ghassanieh. L’edificio religioso era stato razziato e distrutto e nel comunicato compariva anche il nome di padre Francois, un eremita cattolico che aveva cercato rifugio nella comunità conventuale e che era rimasto ucciso durante l’attacco dei ribelli.
Ora sembrerebbero diverse le notizie invece riportate oggi dalla radio francese che ha diffuso la notizia del rapimento, da parte dei jihadisti, di tre religiosi, tra cui anche padre Francois (Francesco Mourad), a cui è stato fatto un processo sommario, dopo che su un’agenda di uno dei monaci era stato rinvenuto il numero di telefono di un militare, per poi eseguire l’esecuzione. I religiosi erano stati anche accusati di aver favorito il traffico di armi e munizioni per conto del regime.

Non si ricevono conferme sull’identità delle vittime. Padre Pierbattista Pizzaballa, custode di Terra Santa, ha infatti smentito con un comunicato ufficiale che le tre persone trucidate siano tre francescani. Si tratterebbe invece di un eremita francese e di altre due persone non appartenenti all’ordine religioso.
